HomeMakers (for wives and moms) PDF Print E-mail

Next meeting is Tuesday, December 1

hm_renee_09In today’s fast-paced world, women have more demands on them than ever before. HomeMakers is a place for us to stop, take a break, and focus on the relationships in our lives that are most important. It’s a place to learn, share, laugh, and pray about the things we all face daily as women, wives, mothers, and friends.

HomeMakers is a diverse group of women of all ages, in all stages of life. So whether you’re a mom who works outside the home, a stay-at-home mom, a first-time parent, the parent of toddlers to teens and everything in between, an empty nester, a newlywed, or celebrating your silver anniversary—HomeMakers is for you!  Each week, we share testimonies of what God is doing in our lives, and enjoy a practical teaching about real-life things we all face as women, wives, and moms. Then we meet in small groups to discuss how to practically apply the Word in our everyday lives.

In addition, HomeMakers is a wonderful place for fellowship, fun, and friendship.  Special events that everyone enjoys include our annual Christmas party, Valentine party, and a winter hotel overnight. So give HomeMakers a try and see if you don’t agree that it’s the place to be on Tuesday mornings.

Look to your left of this for the HomeMakers sidebar, and click on "News & Updates" for more information about our fall kickoff.  Or click on "mp3 Downloads" to get a taste of what HomeMakers is all about, by listening to one of the messages from last year.  Hope to see you at HomeMakers!

Ladies you are so blessed to be able to participate "LIVE" at Homemakes! Don't take your gift for granted! Know you are listened to all around the US... I've started a group in South Carolina that meets and listens to the messages once a week... I've also turned some women on in Georgia and Virginia to this as well. I so hope the message from tomorrow gets posted quickly! I can't wait to start another year! Blessings to you all... your old friend...

What a wonderful blessing HomeMakers has been to me over the past several years. To have the opportunity to come together each week with other mothers and wives like me is truly priceless. Renee's teachings have inspired me to be a better wife and mother to my family. Each week I leave refreshed knowing that I can be all that God has called me to be. With His help, I truly can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

This is my 2nd year at HomeMakers and I hope and pray for many many more. Renee's teachings are so inspiring, down to earth, scripturally sound, full of love, humor and wisdom. I am learning so much that I thought I already knew! The women who attend HomeMakers and the loveliest most welcoming women I've ever met. There is so much love and support at HomeMakers. I'm so glad my beautiful daughter Clover invited me to come last year! Thank you Renee, and all the women who make HomeMakers happen. If you are reading this and thinking about coming, stop thinking about it and just show up next Tuesday. You'll be greeted and welcomed and accepted and encouraged. I can't begin to explain the laughter and the tears that are there. It's a God thing!!!

HomeMakers has meant so much to me! It would be impossible to share it all. When we started coming to Living Word, I heard about HomeMakers but thought it was for that young mom with kids. I was wrong!

I had gone to morning prayer. I needed to pray for others since my life felt like it was turned upside down. My mom was seriously ill. Our families had pushed us away - they didn't understand this Christianity, born again , going to church more than once a week kinda thing.

That Tuesday morn, I saw an older lady I had been introduced to. She was at the table signing something and went into the fellowship hall. So I, an older lady, went down to check it out.
Well, that was a few years ago. I now have a very large extended family--all girls. Best of all, that lady and I became friends, as well as sisters in Christ.

I have grown up a lot from the great teaching of our fearless leader and the fellowship of all my sisters in Christ!

There is a place here for you too!!! Whatever age, you live in a house that makes you a home maker, so come and get to know your family!

My daughter, Shelly Theim, invited me to HomeMakers. I was visiting from Iowa, and she asked me to stay Tuesday so I could attend with her. It was my second visit. It is good to see women of all ages get together and enjoy Renee's message; she is so funny and it hits the spot. I really enjoyed the smaller group discussion. It is good to talk with other women about things that affect all of us; sometimes we forget we are in this together and the difficulties we have are not just us but all women. I'm so glad Shelly has a place she can go where she feels accepted and gets good advice. Thanks HomeMakers and thanks Renee!

My name is Ali Holman and my husband, daughter, and I have recently moved to Living Word after being members at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Mpls. for quite some time. We felt the Lord was calling us to try out a new church, although we loved Fellowship. We both wanted to get involved more, make friends, and be a part of a church family. When we first came to Living Word, it was a bit overwhelming. In fact, during the first sermon, my husband said he could not pay attention because he was watching the TV cameras. :) But we have really begun to love the messages preached and the people we have met.

I was again overwhelmed when I came to the HomeMakers group. Honestly, I was expecting about 25 women sitting in a circle--and even brought my own Diet Coke! Little did I know it would be a very well-run machine--right down to the organized baskets on each table, bios on leaders, and of course the snacks. :)

I truly feel God had called me to join a specific group--and when I did, I surprised myself and let my guard down and cried to the group about our struggle with having a 2nd child. Immediately, the group stopped discussion, we joined hands and we prayed. This meant a lot to me--as I knew the prayers did not originate out of obligation, but rather out of the hearts of the members.

It is SO nice to meet friends who share the commonality of faith. I truly feel HomeMakers provides this outlet and opportunity for women to "come as they are" and relate to other--women who try every day to live their life by the Word. I thank everyone who has welcomed me into this very large small group.

Two years ago, I started attending HomeMakers off and on after my daughter was born. Last year, I hardly missed a week. I was so happy to get back to HomeMakers after the summer break this year! I originally started coming so I could hang out with some of my friends and get out of the house for a little bit. As a new stay-at-home mom, that was important to me. Once I started though, I realized I got so much more out of it! The teaching every week always seems to be exactly what I need at that moment. It's a place I know I can go to hear from the heart of God, to get advice from other moms, to get motivated in many areas, to get prayer, to have an opportunity to pray for and bless others, and to just have fun! HomeMakers also helps me be a better wife and Mom. I look forward to Tuesday mornings every week, and I can't imagine not attending!

I've been attending HomeMakers for over 10 years. My friend Angela Andries really helped me get there for the first time. I was pregnant with my second son and would soon be transitioning from a full-time career working mom to a full-time stay-at-home mom. After my son was born, so did all the attacks from the devil. I experienced some postpartum woes and he kept filling my mind with all the reasons I needed to go back to work. Meanwhile, I faithfully attended HomeMakers to keep the vision for our family before us and be the kind of mom God wanted me to be. What can I say, HomeMakers was heaven sent. It got me through the baby blues and it broke down all the thoughts the enemy tried to throw my way. My husband will even attest to the change it has made in me and our family. Thank you Renee for being obedient to God and ministering to all of us moms.

I started attending HomeMakers in January of 2003. I became sad about life but hungry for the truth. We had just joined LWCC, and I decided I needed to look for a place to "fit in". HomeMakers seemed a good place to start. Well, I didn't need to keep looking, because this is where I fit. I remember one day after Renee's teaching, she said if anyone wanted prayer to come up. I was not usually the kind to do so, but I did. After a few words of encouragement, Renee prayed for me. Let me tell you my life has never been the same, not just because of that prayer, but because of the teaching and the "homework" we are assigned each week. Doing my "homework" helps put the teachings deep into my life. My husband is happy I go, and wants me to be there (I think sometimes he wishes he could go too). HomeMakers has helped me build friendships and accountability. I love HomeMakers! Thank you, Renee, for your diligence to hear from God and to speak the truth in love--and humor.

This sums up how I feel about what I learn each week-
2 Peter 1:5 (The Message)~ So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.

I can't begin to tell you how blessed I have been by Homemakers. It is a group I wish I had plugged into sooner. I've been attending LWCC for 4 years, and I just started attending off and on last year after I had our son, Jai. It was such a wonderful lifeline for me last year as I stepped into motherhood for the first time. The teaching was/is always on time and challenges me to think daily about how important my role at home is... I'm a "creative" one who works outside the home as an actress and in an industry where people think having kids and staying home to raise them is "foolish," because you are missing your prime years to "act." I am constantly reminded in such a positive way that God has called me to first love Him and second to be the BEST Homemaker to family. My husband has truly reaped the benefits of this time I have with you all on Tuesdays and so has my son. I have learned so much from watching and talking to more seasoned wives and mothers and have truly appreciated the lessons learned. I'm joyful about my decision to step back from acting as much during this season of my life, and sitting under the teaching of HomeMakers has made such a difference in how I see my role in the family. It's not a setback as the world would call it, but a PROMOTION!!!

I am also completely inspired by the women I see each and every week. Hearing their testimonies and getting to know them has truly been enriching. I was especially touched by the woman who gave her testimony last week 9/25/07 about her husband in Iraq. I kept saying if she can do what she did with her husband in Iraq with children for that long, my separation from my husband for 11 weeks is only a drop in the bucket... I told myself last week, "Stop complaining... you can do this! It's only 11 weeks and he's not even in the line of fire!" Stories like that always help me put my little problems in perspective... The Word and fellowship I get from HomeMakers truly has helped me to become a better me.

As some may know, I'm moving to Greenville, SC, on Saturday October 6th, and all I can say is I'm going to miss LWCC in so many, many ways!!! And HomeMakers will be a HUGE VOID. However, I am planning on getting the CD's and keeping up with the homework online (Renee, you need to do a Podcast so I can just download to my iPod)... I hope to stay connected to the group in more ways than one. Despite all I have going on with a huge move this week and finishing out work... I couldn't miss any HomeMakers for the 2007-2008 year... I truly want to Do Something Beautiful for God and Become Beautiful Doing It! Thank you, Renee, and all the wonderful women of HomeMakers for your faithfulness. You truly have blessed my life!
